The story so far...

It was an evening beside the piano that brought them together.  Short and sweet like the best of melodies, a moment that could be played again and again.  Jesse who was living with Chris and Adam on First Ave., brought his friend Monica over.  Chris was getting ready for a night out.  Putting the final touches on the outfit for his date with some now forgotten anecdote, he joined Jesse and his fetching friend in the living room for some early evening refreshers.  Sitting at the piano bench he casually chatted with Jess while catching sultry glances from this intriguing brunette and her deep radiant eyes.

They talked of crazed roommates and cars and the power of nines stacked on sevens, and Monica joined Chris on the piano, an instrument he was just starting to get after a year or so of banging away.  He talked about the major-minor and the power of the sharp five, but she let him know it was all about sevens.  Close like a couple on the bus, he listened to her sing a song just for him, something eternal sounding but new, a trip filled with mamas and mc’s.  A pure precise voice, able to sing so steady in such an intimate space, subtle and yet so commanding.  And so much fun.  And then, off he had to go!  The moment passes but is not forgotten.

Then a night here, a night there, hey how’s it going, let’s go here, late night trips for Pho, so-and-so’s having a party, who?, oh, cool, Mary’s for late night burgers, let’s just watch a movie at my place, this one’s funny, it’s late I should go, great night, yeah, you could just stay here, okay ...

Then it’s breakfast at 4 afternoon, sleeping in with Orange cat, learning Besame Mucho on the keys and on each other.  A bachelorette apartment with a window sill porch and no bathroom.  In and out of the bath ... down the public hall!  New basement suites with Jesse, and boots comes in.  Change apartments breakfast by the tracks at JKs, Boots meets Crunch and Michael ... we miss Michael ... things are cooking, the money’s rolling in from set, but it’s a fool’s game, money for your life, enough of that, music’s where its at baby!  Let’s get a place just for two, who knew?, me and you at the corner of Commercial and Eighth avenue. Sarah and Adam hold the Narco fort and make it a castle with a new princess. Still on the drive, the Libra Room comes alive, Donald’s in town, J and J up the street, a new music shop keeps the beat.  Let’s make it real, get on a mountain and seal the deal, make something you can see out of something you can feel.  No need for a photo, just a culinary snapshot from Tojo, to send us off to Choklit park, we make our own light when the path gets dark.

And though it might not seem to make a whole lot of sense, these are some of the wondrous steps that brought us both here ... in one lovely piece.

And then ...
